Technical Estimator

The Company
An opportunity has arisen for the position of estimator in the Proposals Department of a utilities company based in west Yorkshire, As well as offering a range of Site Maintenance services our client also offer in works turbine repair and light to heavy machining, including CNC operations covering a complete spectrum of services demanded of power generation plant and similar engineering industries.
The Role
Attend as required site based meetings with clients and sub-contractors, including due diligence and Tender negotiations.Estimating and bid preparation of site outage works and workshop activities. Working with Site Projects staff to prepare outage programmes including shift patterns and resource scheduling.Ensure the balance of involvement between estimate and technical content are of the appropriate level.Ensure reliable sub-contractors and suppliers are engaged in the bid process in accordance with and working with shared services procurement policy.Assess and mitigate technical risk through the use of appropriate Tender qualifications.Prepare and coordinates technical documentation, with sign on from the appropriate sections.To ensure that customer Tenderer, Proposal and Contract reviews are processed accurately and in a timely manner on occasion's unsocial hours will be required in order to meet client timescales.Analyse estimate v actual costs and determine appropriate actions required.Obtain feedback from customers when quotations are unsuccessful in conjunction with Business Development.

8.30am-5.30pm Mon-Fri
About You:
The ideal candidate for this role will have:-
Extensive hands-on, practical estimating experience from a demanding competitive, commercial environment Have a recognised relevant qualification and be highly motivated with good leadership and communication skills Good numerical, commercial awareness and IT skills are an essential asset Essential experience of, or an awareness of, Turbine Generator Outages. The personality and ability to ‘sell' the above services to existing and potential new clients A forward-thinking self starter Extensive hands-on, practical estimating experience from a demanding competitive, commercial environment Good numerical, commercial awareness and IT skills including use of MS Word, Excel and Project An excellent team player. Able to travel to various international internal and external sites at short notice Organised and able to prioritise work effectively. Motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated. Technically competent and experienced.
